Default 270 WSM.

Whats your opinion on the new WSM 270. The stats look prety impresive. The same 130 gr bulets the 270 WIN is around 3050fps and the WSM 270 is 3275fps.

It won't be around long enough to worry about. Just my opinion.

I think alot of the opponents are people that presently own a long action 270, 7mm or 300 mag. They are afraid that what they own is somehow inferior to the NEW flashy cartridge. The same way someone feels when there neighbour down the street buys a NEW fishing reel, quad , skillsaw, pick-up, etc, etc etc.

All it comes down to marketing and offering something NEW to maybe get someone that wouldn't be "in the market" for a new rifle but may just be coaxed to buy one if they can get a edge or bragging rights that they have a NEW toy. If companies never introduced NEW products they would soon find themselves out of business.

I do not think that the 300 Win Mag or 7mm Rem mag will ever be replaced by their shorter brothers but I do think that the 300 WSM is a going to be a VERY popular round. To me it would not matter if they introduced a NEW cartridge every year I just wish people would quit whining about it.

i think the 300, 270, and 7mm WSM's r the greatest. i think they will render the long actions of the same caliber obsolete and eventually the long actions of the same caliber wont even b produced! that may b reaching...but why would someone buy a heavier long action rifle n a caliber that kicks harder, w/out as much energy, at less of a velocity than that of the lighter short action WSM's? the WSM's simply out perform their parent namesakes.
