Well id go out and pick up everyone I could get my hands on and see how they feel. LOL theres so many kinds of muzzleloaders..inlines, percussions, flints... Its kind of a rough question as stated. I usually stick to Thompson Center of some sort though.

I've been very happy and get what I think is pretty dang decent groups with my fifty dollar CVA Bobcat. My only complaint is that the stock makes it feel like a toy.
Unfortunately that's just about the extent of my ML knowledge. I only got into it around Christmas when my Walmart put thos fellas on clearance.

A T/C Omega, Encore, Prohunter, or Triumph
If someone else is paying for it I like the idea of a prohunter 'cause I could get cheap rifle barrels LOL
Oh, and for a scope I'd get a Leupold Rifleman.

T/C omega is a great smokepole and t/c has great customer service (if anything would go wrong with it.) If i could get a muzzleloader and have someone else pay for it I would get a White thunderbolt or any White muzzleloader, Also look at the lyman mustang it is a great muzzleloader but it is a bit on the heavy side(about 1 1/2lbs more than the omega.) As far as scopes go I like the leupold rifleman shotgun scope 3-9x40
