Or a rifle of similar caliber.
Anything smaller for a CHARGING grizzly at CLOSE RANGE does about as much good as pissing in the ocean.
Yeah, I have heard all the stories of "Me and my .44 mag., etc." RIGHT!!!! But if a grizzly is going to try to eat me for lunch I would rather have the deck stacked in MY favor!

The goverment (fed and state) say the only way to go is BEAR SPRAY!!! It's the only thing that's effective, and of course it doesn't hurt the bear. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!
Any time I go out I'm packin a heavy loaded 45 colt or my FA 454 both with 330 gr LBT's. Not ideal, but it's better than a switch.

FAST feet.... and if that didn't work, a really nice 35mm camera, so my widow and orphans would know what happened to me....

at close range and last resort situation,what alot bear guides are beginning to carry now,12 gauge smooth bore shotgun with a 1 1/4 oz rifled slug.absolutly devastating at close range.
