Default what is the best .17 rifle

i am looking for a 17 rifle but their are so many varieties i dont know which one to start with. Savage and marlin make the most reasonable priced .17 rifles. maybe around $250-375 price range.

Well I have a Savage 93 with the bull barrel and accu-trigger. Id definitely buy it again. A quarter will cover 5 shots at 100 with any brand ammo I have shot with it.

Cz and Savage are also fine choices. All Cz's i know of are extremely accurate. Not that Marlin and Savage arent accurate rifles but all CZ's ive ever shot or seen shot is very accurate. I have one in 204 Ruger and it shoots one hole 5 shot groups at 100 yards.

And that one is about normal for a Savage .17.

They are flat out deadly.

I have a 93R17. Bull barrel, all blued. It will dot I's and correct punctuation at 150 yards all day off the bench. Its amazingly accurate.

Gamo.... .177

The boys and I keep in practice through the year during family get togethers right here at home.
We are in charge of grilling whatever is on the menu and at the same time we have a shooting competition going on the side using pendulum targets. Different categories: freehand, kneeling, post rest, 3 second drills, elk/scenario-challengesetc.

Doesn't require a trip to the range or the countrysideand no hearing protection or recoil management required, though we do critique each other on RM form.... "....get your thumb away from your nose!"

Who says I don'tlike "standard" rounds?

Check out the CZ's. I 've got three, a .22 Mag, .17 HMR and a .17 Mach 2. I smiled all the way back from the range the 1st time I shot them, They are, without a doubt, the finest rimfire rifles you can buy. They are easily the most accurate ou of the box.

I like the Ruger 77/17s and 77/22s. I have a 77/22lr that will shoot 1/2" groups at 50 yards and at 30 yards you can cover 10 shots with a nickle. The 17HMR and .22mag are on the same frame so you can buy the second barrel and easily swap them out.
