Default 3in. mag vs. 3.5 supermags

I would like to know the opinion of other sportsmen on the pros/cons of shooting 3in. mags and 3.5in. supermag shotgun rounds.
I have been doing some checking around and most things I have read suggest the the benefits of supermags are not as great as initially suggested by marketing hype.

I have a 3" BPS I use for deer and turkey,I had a Mossberg 3 1/2 ultra mag.I got rid of the 3 1/2 and went back to the 3" BPS.
the mossberg was the worst piece of junk gun I ever owned.
the 3 1/2 is not much more than the 3" to me. it may make a little difference if you are after goose.

just my 2 cents,there are 98 more.

I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest

remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

Like Tree climber, i USE to own a 3.5 inch 12 guage and was not a big fan at all. Mine was a benelli nova, and was one of the worst-shooting shotguns i have ever seen. I guess i just got caught up in the name brand when i bought mine, because i regretted every day after i got it. Also, the 3.5 inch nova, being as light as it is, was a BEAST when it came to recoil. I could shoot two 3.5 inch shells from the nova and my shoulder would be twice as sore as if i shoot a whole box of shells from my 300 win. mag. I'm talking violent recoil. Well, if i picked one word to describe the 3.5, it would be unecessary. That's my take on the 3.5, hope it helps.

from what i have learned from doing homework on this subject and asking people ( i am on the market of upgrading my rem 1100 myself )
i have found that the 3.5" mag is much better suited for goose and if you use for deer hunting it is better using it for stillhunting.i think for deer alone 3"mag is alot better suited for your needs and also good for turkey.

or just buy one of each!

Diito---DG I have an old 870 that will only shoot 2 3/4" shells. I've never felt under gunned yet. It will take turkeys out to 40 yards, works great on ducks & upland birds as well.

I shoot 3.5's for turkey out of my 835. It shoots a great pattern.
