RE: Help Me Choose My First Rifle
Wrenches - bolts - screws & nuts!
Y'all threw everything into this. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> And I really appreciate it! OK - so not being one to completely ignore any advise, I'll look into everything. I don't think that the .243 is necessary though as we can't hunt with rifles for deer here in Illinois. However - the point being made - what if I were to actually go on an out of state hunt.....?? I see your point. But I will do some research at BassPro & Gander Mountain this weekend and see where everything goes. Thanks again everyone. Hey - how about this for another wrench in the works a .17 ?? Been reading about the new Hornady loads... sound interesting. RE: Help Me Choose My First Rifle
JUSTINL, if you are talking about the 17 HMR then it won't meet your needs for coyotes. Far too light. It would do fine for groundhogs and smaller as long as you didn't try to stretch it too far. If you are talking about the 17 Rem which is a centerfire then maybe, but personally I wouldn't feel comfortable shooting a souped up pellet rifle.
