wingmaster 3" or 2 3/4"
My question is from a newbie. Is it the barrel and the reciever or just the barrel that determines whether or not you can shoot 3" shells? I have an 870 wingmaster and the barrel states 2 3/4 length shells. Can I put another barrel on this gun and shoot 3 or not?

RE: wingmaster 3" or 2 3/4"
it is possible to shoot 3"from a 2 3/4 receiver. My dipstick cousin used to shoot 3" slugs from his 2 3/4 express (12 ga), only problem he had the hullwould not eject every time, too long for the opening. he didnt seem to think much of it, told him the next time he pulled the trigger may be his last. He finally discontinued such practices and stepped up to a SBE, dont have to worry about him anymore.

I actually called Remington about this specific issue. Could you convert a 2 3/4" wingmaster receiver over to a 3" one.
In short, they told me the actual receiver is the same, Some of the inner mechanics are different to support a hull that is 1/4" longer. You can send your gun to them and for like $180 (if memory serves correctly) can get your 2 3/4" gun changed into a 3" gun.
