simmons 8 point ?
I bought a simmons 8point to put on that .223 . I paid 62.00 shipped for a 4-12x40. I posted on the optics forum but only got 3 responses and they were all negative. Does anybody like these scopes or did I waiste my money? I know it won't be a leupold, but it should get me through a couple of years ...... right?

i think you can get the 4-12x simmons at walmart for 50 or 60 bucks. i was considering one for my mini-14.
i have the 3-9x on my Savage 110 in .270 and so far it's working fine for what I do with it.

You do get what you pay for. Had a bunch of cheap scopes go to pot on my muzzleloaders. However, there is a 4X32Simmons shotgun scope on my Encore muzzleloader that just keeps going and going.Put it on the gun until i could get a Leupold for it. Hit a buck deer at 160 long Army paces withthe Encorelast fall, it did take another shot at close range tokill it.Killed a hogat 172 long paces with that gun and scope combination. The Leupold is still in the box.

I have heard Simmons doesn't stand up to recoil very well. I had one on my .17hmr. It did very well for me but then again, no recoil to speak of. I hope that .223 will be fine as well.

I have the same scope on my .45 T/C Muzzle Loader, I like it, I haven't had any problems yet. I think it works well, very clear and accurate. I have a simmons 3-9X40 on my Savage model 11 in .243, and it works great too. I would say they are worth the money if you need a scope until you can buy an expensive on like a Leupold.
