It seems to me that yall are missing the whole point. I personally find the 10-22 design to be perhaps the best .22 semi ever. What everybody is saying is 10-22 design makes it possible for almost anybody to improve and/or tinker with their gun. Isn't that 1 of the things we love? Just like reloading or shooting different loads in rimfire to see which are most accurate. We all strive to make the best shots we can within the gun's capability. I have also worked on marlin/glenfield model 60s numbering in hundreds over the years,and I can tell you that it isn't nearly as simple to improve/tinker,or even repair as 10-22. While I work on/build rifles for a living,I cannot see just shooting something out of box in todays laywer happy heavy trigger times. ANY mass produced product is not hand fitted or tuned for optimum performance and can benefit highly from this or people like me wouldn't be around!

I own a 10/22 and would really like the to get a Marlin model 60 someday.

I have no complaints with the 10/22. Have not done any mods and have no intention to do any mods. Reliable as hell and accurate enough for me (just a plinker anyways).

I still look at this fact(overlooked almost constant feeding problems i've witnessed). I can go to Walmart spend $169 for a stainless model 60 and needs no modifications to perform to its fullest and near flawlessly w/ good-moderate ammo. The Ruger seems to feel cheaper and not everyone has or wants to dump $500 into a rimfire to make it pleasing for the buyer but i've never met a Marlin rimfire owner who wasn't pleased highly.

Excelent point! I use rimfires for plinking and just my go to fun guns. I have no need to dump a lot of money into a .22 to make it reliable and accurate when I can have one that shoots/looks great and functions just as well for a less than $200.

Overall reliablility, 15 million aftermarket parts/pieces/components ==== Ruger 10/22.
Overall accuracy, and a sweet little plinker right out of the box ====== Marlin Model 60.

I had a 10-22 back in 83 and it was a POS in the snow and cold,also have a 60 that I got long before I bought the 10-22....Anyway have any of you 10-22 shooters seen the gatling(spl) gun setup they make for the 10-22,looks kind of neat but you need 2 10-22's for the kit.

The marlin is the most accurate, I have a savage mkII bolt action 100.00 from walmart an absolute tack driver but of the autos marlins are accurate and reliable as anything

I have had my Marlin M60 since 1975when I bought it used for $35. It feeds and accurately shoots every LR ammo I have tried in it.

I have two Ruger 10/22 rifles. One with a bull barrel and 4x12 scope and the other with the stock barrel, folding composite stock, and red dot. Both have had Volquartsen trigger kits installed and a few other tweaks. Both required a little polishing on the feed ramps to feed reliably too.

The Rugers are more versatile and more fun but neither could match the reliability of the Marlin. That is why when I wanted a .17 Mach 2 rifle, I bought another Marlin. Although I did put a Rifle Basix trigger in it, it would shoot half inch groups at 50 yards with the factory trigger right out of the box.

Personally, although built like tanks, I am not a big fan of Ruger products.

I've got one of each. Like 'em both. I've had no problems with the Ruger's reliability. Both seem to be about equally accurate. I personally like the magazines for the Ruger rather than the tube feed for the Marlin, so, when we're rabbit hunting, I carry the Ruger, and my son gets the Marlin...
