Leverevolution ammo
Recently I won a Marlin 1895G in a 45/70 cal. I have been hearing rave reviews on the new leverevolution ammo from Hornaday. Mostly I will use the rifle as a brush gun for whitetails. Any comments on the leverevolutions? Or should I stick with the old 300 grain blunt nose ammo?

RE: Leverevolution ammo
I shoot them in my .450 and they shot really well. I haven't tried them out past 125 yards but when they hit you know it. We have a old red oak tree we use as a stop behind our target and the whole tree will shake when they hit it. Mine will group right around an inch at the range.

I've been shooting them in my .444 Marlin for a few months. They are very impressive... I'd recommend them. They would likely knock the snot out of a whitetail in 45/70.

They are much better than the old flat nosed ammo.

I must agree.. this ammo seems to be the best around. I have been shooting it also and love it. It hits hard and groups wonderful. I think you'll like it, just like we do. Give it a try !!

RE: Leverevolution ammo
I know that vast majority of folks have had really good results from the leverrevolution ammo, but my brief trial did not work well. I shot some through my marlin 336 30-30 and I got at least 2 feet of drop at 200 yards from them with it sighted in 3" high @ 100 yards. Like I said it was a brief trial, like 9 shots, but not what I hoped for. I will try it again, but not too worried as any time I would use my 30-30 it would be when expecting shots 100 or so yards and shorter.

Something must be wrong. The 160 30-30 round when sighted 3 inches high at 100 yard hits .2 low at 200 and 12.1 inches low at 300 yards. We tried them in my brothers Marlin and they were about right on that level. Maybe it was a bad box.
