Barrel length on Benelli
I was looking to purchase a Benelli M2 12 gauge shotgun. I have narrowed the barrel choice to a 26 or 28 inch barrel. Will be used primarily for recreational skeet and occasional dove shoots. What barrel would you use?

If you specifically want either a 26 or 28" barrel, I would definitely go with 26, but I prefer shorter. I used to own a 28" barrel for my Super 90 for skeet and sporting clays, but I found myself using my 21" barrel the most with basically the same scores. My Dad also had 28" for his Super 90, but he went with a 24" instead.

For a gun that will be used primarily for wingshooting, I like a 28" barrel. For a turkey/buckshot gun, I like a 24" or 26".
If you are used to shooting one or the other on your other shotguns, then don't switch if you have shot well in the past with one or the other. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

RE: Barrel length on Benelli
It seems like more folks are starting to go with the longer (e.g. 28") barrels for even sporting clays. I'd go with the longer, unless your strictly shooting targets/game up close.
