I was thinking a Lee Enfield down the track, which version should I get?

Got a bunch of friends who use them every year for moose and deer. Your friend shouldn't have any problem.

Yeah, but he said something like:'I thought the 1903 Springfield and the kar98 were the best BOLT ACTION rifles ever made.'

If you had a choice betweenthe M1 Garand andthe M14, which would you pick for combat?

Or better yet, if you asked to serve in the military and in combat and you had the choice of any assault rifle, any.Would youpick the Garand over everthing else out there that was "ever made"?

I am not knocking the Garand, I just think the "best combat rifle made" claim is alittle much.

The M1 Garand Rifle is best known for its role as the United States Armed Forces' main battle rifle during World War Two and Korea. The M1 also saw service in Vietnam, especially during the early years, until it was replaced by the M14 and the M16. Indeed the ruggedness and 'real' appearance of the Garand Rifle made it a favorite of many soldiers and even 40 plus years after it was replaced, many still consider the M1 superior to the 'plastic fantastic' guns that supplanted it.


And to top it off, John C. Garand was Canadian!

Yeah, but the M-14 was made with a wooden stock, and it looked alot like the Garand when it was first made, only that it used a detachable magazine

I have three of them. There is no species of critter on the planet that has not been killed with the 303. Its been around almost as long as the critters.Many Many Many Cape buffalo have been shot with the old Brit.

Many will also say there is no species that has not been wounded with the 303..

I have an Enfield .303 from the Canadian Army. I can tell you that without any doubt this gun will easily take any medium sized game and as others have stated it has been used for animals as large as cape buffalo. I suggest that you go pull a box of ammo and compare it to the 30-06. It is quite similar. The only drawback on mine is that it has the Army peep sight. Great for about out to 100 yards. A sporterized version might well be one of the best guns you will ever shoot!

And it was chambred in.308 not .30-06!
