You have to have a caliber of .275 or bigger to hunt 'yotes?
What kind of country is that!

Hey this is Canada! Our coyotes average 160 lbs and can eat through a car door! Sorry couldn't resist. No we have to use .275 or under in the southern more populated zones. That's why I wanted a combo coyote/deer rifle.

I don't think you could do better than the 6.5 X 55 for a combo gun which has yotes and deer as the dual goal.
There are actually many that would do near-as-good a job (or better in some eyes) but I doubt you could match the different bullet weights and loads available as with the Swede round.
You can load down to 85 grains and as high as 160 grains, and depending on your twist you might do well at one extreme and ok at the other. Or you might just decide that 100's on the yote's and 140's on the deer are all you'd ever consider. All I know is it has proven a very consistently performing round for me, but it could be due to my fine Swede rifles.
The many other rounds that could be entered as good choices would be the 243 and /or 6mm Remington, .260 Remington, 257 Rob, 25/06, 6.5 X 54, 6.5 X 257, 7 x 57, .280, ... and I could keep going but my personal choices stop there.
