Default Remington 710?

I normally hunt and shoot with a blackpowder, but have been wanting a high power centerfire for deer (one week antlerless in Iowa) and coyote/varmit hunting occasionally. I dont want to spent a lot of money because Im putting a lot into otherBP recently.

I saw a Remington 710 package at KMARTfor 389 and wondered if it would be a good gun for these uses. Any advice?

dude, whatever you do, do NOT buy the 710. i don't care if it is $389 or $200, don't buy it!! mossberg 100atr,howa package, savage package, or stevens 200 would be a better choice for an economy rifle. or for $300 get a marlin 336 in .30-30win.

Been there done that man. As well as the gun shoots and feels it is not a well built gun and within a couple hundred rounds there is a good chance it will be broken. I had one, got a couple of deer with it and then got to looking it over while cleaning it and found that it was getting a crack near the reciever. Not good, traded it back in on a Marlin 44 mag levergun. You would probably be better off spending the same money on a used gun at the pawn shop imho.
