Default Need some help on a Sako

Found a Sako - Fiberclass I believe. It's chambered for .280. It's topped with a Leupold VX III 4-14x40. Though I know not highly followed, I don't have a .280 yet and wouldn't mind filling the gap (maybe even punch it to AI?). The seller wants $1k even for the whole package. I just don't know much about these older Sako's (i.e., not the newer 75's or 85's). I do think that these Fiberclass stocks were produced by McMillan. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the price and any experience with the Fiberclass. The rifle does pull up like a dream. Thanks in advance for the info.

That is a fantastic price. You would be lucky just to get the Fiberclass for $1,000. If theLeupold is mounted with the Optilok system, you are stealing that rifle. I have a Fiberclass in 7x64, which is virtually identical to the .280 and love it.I don't see how you can go wrong with that arrangement.

Good Luck,
CE

Thanks guys, was wondering if it was too good to be true; just don't know much about the old/pre 75 models; even if it needs a new barrel, I'm thinkin the scope goes for $350 easy, it likely is a McMillan stock, and at that point, a new barrel might not be too bad. I think I'll pick it up and see how she shoots. I think the Action says "A-IV" on it; I know that's an action size; when did they start using those roman numeral designations; early 75's or before that . . . it doesn't look like todays 75's or 85's.

Thanks again.
