Default 3-Position Safety for M77??

Does anyone know if I can get a 3-position safety installed on my M77, it has the tang safety now. Can the MKII bolts be converted to work in my rifle??

Thanks Guys

I don't see why you would want to convert from the tang safety, but I would just buy a Mk II gun with a 3 position safety already on it.

Because I have my M77 set up just how I like it. I put a Bell & Carlson thumbhole stock on it, glass bedded, KG GunKoted the whole thing. But now the tang safety is hard to get to due to the thumbhole stock. Its not super hard, but it is a pain to operate, especially with gloves on. So I three position would make it much easier.

Why in the world would you want to switch from the convieient tang safety to beside bolt???? I would MUCH rather have tang than "newer" style safety! You really need to think this over. Try throwing rifle up tp shoulder whiletaking safety off. Now try it with mk2 style. Which is handier?

Because I have the thumbhole stock. The tang safety is now in like a little hole, and it is pretty hard to operate. The other would make it much easier. I have used both many times, yes, with a conventional stock the tang safety is awesome, I like it much better. But not with a thumbhole.

Is the safety hitting on the bottom of the cut out in the thumbhole stock? If so, you could sand it out to free up the safety.

No, I sanded everything free, so it works pretty good. Its just in a really odd position now. I'll try and get a pic of it, once you see it you'll understand what I'm saying. Its a little hard to try and explain what I'm trying to explain

There were a couple of companies making 3 pos bolt shrouds for 77's but I doubt they're still producing them. Can't remember company names.

A bolt shroud safety that engages the cocking piece is much more reliable and safethan the old tang safety or the goofy wanna-be 3 pos on the 77 mark II

ranger- Do you have a link? I'm not too sure of what a bolt shroud safety is.

Still no e-mail from the guy I listed, so I guess I will have to call him saturday.

Thanks
