i want another bolt action rifle that is extreamly accurate but not a buck and a half.....i wanna take some 300 yard shots and all...but not have a price tag breaking my back

wow you opened up a big discussion, theres gonna be alot of arguing over this one.in my opinnionthere isnt any specific gun to buy, but i have heard the remington 700 bdl is very accurate and is good out to 300-400 yrds.

i shoot a browning BAR .30-06, it only has a 18 in barrel, but im shootin good groups out to 300 yrds.

Tikka is a good long gun.
But its the shooter that makes or breaks how well a gun will shoot.You could have the Best of the Best and not hit the broad side of a Barn.

You should be able to make a 300 yard shot with any of the new production guns from Ruger, Browning, Tikka, Savage, Remington, etc etc etc.

For the money, it's hard to beat Savage for accuracy, but I wouldn't rank it high on looks.

What is your intended target at 300 yards? What caliber(s) are you considering? I just bought a new 243 barrel for my Blaser, and though I have only shot it at 100 yards so far, I am shooting one hole groups with factory ammo. The gun is not cheap by any means, but I am quite impressed with the accuracy with both my 243 and 300 WSM barrels.

those cooper rifles have a guarantee of 1/2 groups at 100 yards. but they are about 1k

well im intending target shooting b.c im playing on going into the marines as a sniper...hoora...but anyways i love the sport of shooting(that is non-killing) and i wanna push the limits .....i preiviously was scavaging for money bout got a new job so im playing to dish out a couple paychecks to get a awsome gun.... but still be in a fair price...i want 30-06 so i can shoot target as well as hunt.....i have studied and shot constatly, my shoting is not the delema its an affordible gun that i can get hard shots...im a savage man but im willing to go for the rem 700 ????

I would just wait until you get into the Marines and get used to whatever weapon they issue you. Then when you get out, buy one just like it so your already use to shooting long range with it. IMO

The "most" of anything positive and being "cheap" just don't fit together. At some point you compromise, either on performance or cost. Make the choice! It's not so easy as saying model "X" or model "Y". it''s a combination of gun, shooter and cartridge. Finiding the preferred bulet/load combination can help make most any decent gun a very good shooter. Weather the shooter himself can do the rest is not always a gaurantee. Also, a qulaity scope adds to the price too and also plays a part in the equation.
Were it me, for the money, I'd look at Savage.

After reviewing your spelling, I have a hard time believing you got into West Point.

To answer your question, if you're looking for a rifle that is similar to a sniper rifle, try to get your hands on a Remington 700 Police chambered in .308. You'll have to do some looking to find a dealer that can get ahold of one for you since you're a civilian.

truth be told i just got a 4/5 on a collage AP english exam...in highschool...thats the 5th percetile buddie.....and ur rigt i cant spell...but i am super well rounded and have a 4.0 GPA in all advanced placement classes...so i like to sing and play sax...and shoot(most importantly) something wrong with that....also if u like A'cappella im in a nation award winning group JUKEVOX...check it out were sexy lol

word...i read and practiced "SNIPER COUNTRY" 3 or 4 times every time i shoot i take my taget home and do nasty math to figure out where i f'd up im a math whore and i love shooting the two together are a deadly combo....but thats only at like 300 yards i love pushing the limits....this gun is ??? and how much

thats not that bad for the amount of work you did ...but instead of that i bout a dodge stealth sports car....and a savage 116 so now i can drive to the range:D instead of just having a nasty rifle

Scopeye-Where to start....first of all, most mainstream firarms will shoot better than the person shooting them. Most, but not all. Second, several cartridges are inherantly more accurate than others. Third, hand-loading increases accuracy and consistancy immensly. The ability to accuratly make a shot on a big game animal at 300 yds is not hard with what is available these days. Most important is you. Now making a center mass or head shot on a guy firing at you with an RPK from over 600 meters away is a COMPLETELY differant stiory(not to mention something I hope you never experiance). I have comments to make about going toWest Point and your thoughts of joining the Marines, more specificaly of you wanting to become a sniper,but those are of a private nature. What I can tell you is that as an Army sniper or a Marine Sniper-Scout, most of your shotswill be taken with the 7.62 NATO round(.308win). SF units employ .50bmg, several units use.300 win mag'sand Iknow ofONEunit currently in deployment that has received a .338 Lapua. As a recent former member of the military, I can tell you that if you go to West Point, you will NEVER be an actual sniper. You may have a chance to attend the school(doubt it though) but as an officer, you will never be deployed in the field as one. Sorry to burst your bubble, but best you know the truth beforehand. Also, if becoming a sniper is your dream, realize that odds are against you in doing so. The Marine's Sniper-Scout School is one the toughest to past in all of the military. Odds are better at becoming a Navy Seal than a Marine Sniper-Scout. Now, I am not trying to discourage you, but as I said, it is best you know the truth. And last of all, should you join the military, given current situations, I must forewarn you: taking a human life is something that most people cannot easily deal with(even in a wartime situation).

None of this is to say that you are not capable of becoming what you want to be. I accomplished this goal myself. BUT, I just want you to know of what it is that you are trying to obtain, the sacrifices that are required, and what obsticles lay ahead. I wish you nothing but the absolute BEST of luck in any path you choose.

scope eye, many people get 4 or 5's on an ap test and still go to d3 crap schools. That means nothing, and in order to get into west point, youd need to be sportin probablly above a 4 with a hugely high gradepoint. I don't believe you either, and it is really gay of you to go makin fun of people who didn't go to college.

Show the acceptance letter with your name on it and ill believe you.

Either way, you definately don't have the attitude of a marine.
