Default Is it possible to shorten a revolver barrel?

I have a Stainless Ruger SBE 44 mag with a 10 1/2 barrel and I'd like to know if it's possible fora gunsmith to shorten the barrel and re-attach the front sight?

Thanks!

It's possible to shorten the barrel. The front sight might be a problem, depending on how it's attached now. It might be easierto put on a new sight than to remove the old one intact and reapply it.

Yes the existing barrel can be shortened. Or you can have another factory barrel fitted to it of the length you want.

How about I do you a favor? You send me the pistol and I will send you a crisp, new $50 bill. You can then put that toward a different handgun.

Pardon me, this might seem like a dumb question........why not trade it for one same model with a shorter barrel?
