The best fair priced slug gun on the market IMOP is the bolt action Mossberg. I forget the model now but it's the only bolt action they make now. It shoots just like a rifle. If you still want a semi auto I would choose a remington.

in my opinion, you can't beat a remington 11-87 with fully rifled slug barrel and cantilever scope mount. It is a smooth operator and after 6 years of abusing mine in the field, I have never had a problem with it. I put a bushnell trophy series 1.75-4x scope on it, and it is the sweetest deer gun I can imagine. I got mine for about 600 dollars about 6 years ago. They are probably more now. good luck, and let us know what you get.

I just picked up a browning gold slug gun. Its great. I have freinds that have 1187's and a few jammed due to chamber tolerances. So I went with the browning since I am also ticked off at remington these days due to there rifles. Only drawback of the browning is the price of there barrels. But I am glad I picked it up. Its already dropped two deer in the first week of having it. I put a 2-7X33 Leupold shotgun scope on.

Check out http://www.tjgeneralstore.com/moss-bbl.htm Their rifled slug barrels are running around $180. They don't ding you too bad on shipping either.
