Check out the Nikon Buckmaster. Fixed 4 power with a 40mm objective. I've seen them for as low as $151.00 at different websites.

i have a tasco-bantam scope on my 870. cost about 70 bucks when i bought it 8 years ago. it was just a quick fix untill i could afford something better, but to this day its has never let me down or needed to be resighted. imy 870 is a cantaliever 23-inch rifled barrel. its kicks like a mule. i guess ive just been lucky. the scope has at least 100 shots on it between deer and trget.

I wouldn't skimp on the optics. Raise you min. price if you can.... fog proof, rain proof.

For those of you that prefer the Nikon does the lower field of view ever cause any problems? I thought I would like to have a higher FOV for any deer that might come through at a faster pace but not sure. Any problems with 2x being the lowest setting?
I can't say that I have had any problems with 2x being the lowest settingin relation to field of view. With that said, I am using my 2x7 Nikon a Savage ML, so looking for longer and more deliberate shots and not quick ones. You could also consider a scope with a 1.5x4.5 or similar range if you are concerned about FOV, or get a scopelarger objective than 32, such as a 40.
