For deer, the 270 or 7mm-08 in a good bolt gun will offer a lifetime of good deer hunting.

As far as the best gun, I can only speak for what's in my safe, and my best is a Blaser R-93. I have one in 375 H&H and one in 300 WSM.

iv only deer hunted for 2 seasons and only shot one gun while deer hunting that is a 243 wssm and it works great

As for a pure deer rifle, I guess its kind of hard to beat a .270, or 7mm-08. I dont own either, Im happy with my good ole' Remington 700 .30-06. I've dropped every deer I've shot with it. Cant ask for anything more than that.

Loaded question, my current favorite is my model 94 in 307. Getting rid of the scope and installing the Ghost Ring sight really changed my outlook on this gun. I would say it depends on where you hunt and what your preference is.

In the deer woods, the 270, 280,30-06 are great. If you have a slight infatuation with alittle more power and versatility, you cant go wrong with the 300wsm. She's here to stay! I aslo like the 270wsm, another awesome flat shooter for deer.

Mine would be winchester model 70(per 64 action) in 7mm rem. mag.
I don't go in the woods for deer or bear with out it.

for me...stevens model 200 25-06 my scope costed more than this gun did new...but after shooting my brothers I was so impressed that I put the browning .270 in the safe and have hunted this year with the 25-06.


to me its what you have confidence in.

I dont think the deer you shoot will really care what the name brand of the rifle is .... 270 or 7mm08in any brand is hard to beat for a WT.....a high dollar rifle looks good walking into the woods but the deer aint any deader when shot by a Blaser , Browning orif shot with a Mossburg shotgun ... JMO

pre 64 model 70's in 06 or 270. If you can fine a Model 70 classic super grade that would be my #1 choice.

Its a toolbox, hunting that is, so different tools for different situations. Brushy, tight quarters, lever gun such as Marlin 30-30, .35 or .444. More open shots, Savage American Classic in .300 win mag. Slug gunning only, 870 express combo with rifle barrel. ML, hands-down the Savage 10ML-II, the best by far. Pistol, .460 S&W for deer and .500 S&W for larger game.

A 700 Remington in 270 is number one in my opinion. A 30.06 is next.The good ole 30. 30 Winchester 94is a proud third.I am not a "MagManic" .... no offense to anyone.Although I have used them in my travels especially a 7WSM( a very potent round indeed, not to mention very accurate). I hunt whitetail deer in South Central Kentucky. Shots are usually made in 200 yards or less. I see no need for the extra everything. My Grandpa is a 30.06 but my Daddy is a 270. I love them both. Thesethree calibers will live a long, long, long, time. The wheel can only be re-invented so many times.
