DREAM GUN.

I'm planning my dream gun build, but wanted to bounce it off you guys first.

.243 Ackley Improved
Remington 700 Action
Jewel or Timney Trigger
Badger Ordance Tactical Bolt Knob
Badger Ordance Detachable Magazine Triggerguard
26" ABS Carbon Barrel- 1-10 Twist
McMillan A5 or A3 stock-Pillar Bedded

What do you guys think??

What ever floats your boat, but I am not into wildcat calibers. I have a standard 243 barrel ordered for my Blaser R-93 Offroad (synthetic model). That is my idea of building a gun. German craftsmanship is hard to beat.

Have you got any prices on your dream gun? Good luck with your project.

What ever you think works for you. However, I would look into Hart barrels. They are nice and accurate.

It's not what I would build, but it sounds like a heck of a varmint gun! Enjoy!

The .243-.308 family of cartridges is already close to optimum design-wise. In other words, these cartridges justcan't be improved much.

If you want a better 6mm round, either the 6mm Remington or the 6mm-284 is a better choice than the .243 AI.

Well the reason I chose the .243 AI over the 6mm-284 was because I already have a bunch of .243 brass to load. And the AI will give me WSSM performance. I thought about a different barrel, well see. I can use any brand barrel and have them turn it down and carbon wrap it. Price wise, I haven't ran the figures firm yet, but ball park it should be right at $2000 or so. It will be for varmint/deer hunting, thats why I want the carbon barrel.

I'd just leave the factory trigger in the gun and have it tuned by a good gunsmith. Those other 2 triggers are good triggers, but aren't necessary. I have had 2 Rem 700s that I have had triggers done on and they were perfect when done. That lil tip should save ya some $$$$

Other than that sounds like it will be a fun build. I'm not sure I like the carbon fiber barrels though......

What are you going to do with that rifle?
What range will you be shooting?

I have mine already. Remington SPS 7mm-08. Hard to beat that combo for deer and coyotes. 450.00 out the door. Shoots as well or better than I can.
