Know anything about this rifle??

A friend of mine is letting me try-out a rifle and buy it if I like it. I'd just like to know any info good or bad about this model.
Marlin 30-30 Win.
Glenfield Model 30A
Also it has a "Marlin" scope on it 4x32.
What would be a fair price? It is in what I would call "good" condition. A few minor nicks in the butt stock and a few small &very minorareas of surface rust. I believe it can be cleaned up nicely.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
TXMM

Reb, are you serious? I'm not doubting, just wondering.
I can get a new marlin 30-30 for $200 @ Academy right now. Is the particular model I asked about worth that much more even in used condition?
Again, I'm just wanting clarification as to why you think $300.

Yeah, in descent condition I would say between $150 and $250. I just paid $219 for a Sears (Winchester) model 94 30/30 in similar condition. The prices are climbing on the older guns it seems. It also seems that depending on where you live can greatly effect the value of a given gun. Like where I live, gun prices are higher because of all the regulation and availability of guns. [>:]

The ex wife had a Marlin , and I used to own a Glenfield. I would say a fair price for it in " Good " condition is 150.00 - 175.00 and that is with the scope. The scope really does not put any extra value into the gun. If the gun was in very good condition it might be worth a little more, but you called it as good condition, and anything over 175.00 would strictly be up to you.

The Glenfield 30A is the same gun as the Marlin 336, except it's got a cheaper piece of wood for the stock and I think less refined open sights. Very nice rifle, but, the 336 is usually on sale for a pretty reasonable price. Unless he's willing to cut you areally good deal, I think I'd pass and get a new Marlin with a factory warranty.

You can buy a new one with better wood at Wal Mart for way under $300.
If you really want that gun I wouldn't pay more than $125 for it.

Wal-Mart's non-sale price for a Marlin 336A, according to their website, is $310.22.
Academy's webpage lists the 336A for $314.00. On sale, I've seen them around $286.00.
