RE: Rem Model8

I see those old Rems around here for sale fairly often... I wouldn't call them rare... I'll have to pay more attention to the prices though, as i don't know what they go for?

One of the gun magazines ran an article on these a month or two back. If memory serves it was RIFLE.
I have owned an 81 for several years but do not shoot it much. The article showed how easy the 8 and 81 takedown.

hey will79, what specifically do you want to know - im a closet model 8 freak. I have 3 model 8's a .25,.30 and .35 remington and a model 81 in 300 savage. The only thingI saw in this thread you were asking about was sights. You could scour e bay or auction arms or something like that and look for an old marble's or lyman tang sight (way cool - i have 3) or if you wanted to go ahead and ruin the gun - scoping them became popular sometime about 40 years before i was born and the scope mounts are still to be found....but all the ones I've seen require you to drill and tap a bunch of holes in the left reciever wall. replacement open sights are available all you need is something to fit a standard dovetail .... if you have a real specific question i could look into it for you....i have the book that all model 8 afficianado's should have - the great remington model 8....it has everything you could ever want to know.

also DM, where are you seeing these guns at? I'm gonna take a stab and say you're in the northeast or northwest. I scour every gun show down here for the elusive .32 and never see them at all.
