Come on guys, he said he is just out of high school.

The 45-70 is a great choice. I load my standard loads arond 1300 fps with a 405 grain bullet. I think the recoil is quit light, and I can assure you the load is deadly. I think you should get the 30-30 also. I think you should strive to get them all. Tom.

I don't like the 270 for close in stuff either, too much meat damage and sometimes I'v had bullet blow up and poor penetration. I know that a different bullet could solve those problems, but why ruin a real good excuse to buy another gun. The 30-30 is likely all you need, but you'll love that 45-70 when you get it.

Hi, i hunt in alot of thick bruch but someodd reason i got a craven for my .30-30, i owna .270 and where i hunt its a hundred yards max to shoot. im just out high school and know guns and ballistics by back my hand and have alot of firearms but i have killed 8deer in the last 3years and the longest shot i taken is 70 yards i have killed deer with a .280,7mm mag, .30-06,.30-30. like i said my max is 100 yards and own opening day i had 6 deer no futher than 50 yards from me and i just feel like the .270 too much, what do yall suggest, im also getting a .45-70 this summer.
Get a nice CZ 550 in .416 Rigby and use 350-grain cast gascheck flatnose bullets in it with 125 grains of AA8700 powder. Then, when you get ready to hunt dangerous game, in Canada, Alaska orAfrica, all you have to do is change ammo......
