RE: Your Favorite Handgun

TUK I have taken quite a few deer with the 44 Mag and one Elk. Most of the shots have been under 100 yards. Most were taken with the 300 grain Hornady XTP. I shot one Mule deer at about 150 yards with the 5 inch Revolver but that was to far to shoot and I was lucky that it worked out well.. I was using open sights. Scoped handguns will handle that range if you practice a lot.

For me its a Dan Wesson 445 supermag. It carries a Burris 2x7 and is scary accurate. I don't push it too hard so some of my favorite loads are.

225 barnes X at 1776 fps Best load

300 cast performance at 1500

320 cast performance/ or beartooth bullets at 1450 to 1500 fps

Versitility at its best

hunting I like my S&W 629 44 Mag.
My CW is a P95 9mm.....Havent been to big on the hamerless auto's.YET.But got my eye on a glock, maybe after X-Mas....
Just some unrequested advice. . .Really check out that Glock grip angle. It is goofy for most people, I think. The XD is a more natural grip angle. What ever your preference, I thought I shoud point out the Glock is much different from most others. That said the few Glocks I've sshot did well in my hands. Pointability was just off some due to the angle thing.

+1 I do think these are a great deal. Why do they have to be so wide?! Still, I love mine.

was also looking at the Kahr P9 tonight, its alittle thiner then my P95 and fits nicely, also lookedat the glock 19 again,it feels alot like the Ruger(to me).and after talking with afew people, Ive decided to put the glock out of the pitcher for now,its to close to the P95.I think I will start to look at something more on the line of the P9......

The grip angle of the 1911 is the squirrely one! You must learn it to muscle memory for it to feel natural. The Glock and the Luger are far more natural. The answer to this problem is to pick one or the other and stay with it! I'll not have a 1911 or similar handgun as I'm a fan of the Glock, and it's ultra reliability.

YMMV . . .Funny because my 1911 front sight is on target evertime I draw and fire: dry or live! To each his own.

I like the Kahr also, but I tried one which was a jamamatic and I also read about some which were jamamatics. That said, I'm tempted to buy one and either have it work right or to work the bugs out with.

They feel good and would carry as well or better than a 1911.
