Default First Rifle should be??

Hey guys jsut curious as to what you guys think my first rifle caliber should be....I will be mostly predator hunting (not selling pelts) and maybe the occassional big game hunt with it. I have been thinking about the 25-06, 270, and 243 but any recommendations would be great

Its hard to beat the .270 for the purposes you stated.

By big game, I presume you are submitting elk, bear and moose? (Since around my stomping grounds, big game is deer, hogs and turkeys)

Given that assumption, and the calibers you have listed, I would go with a .270 Winchester. If the latter statement is true, then I would pick the .243 in spades.

Go with the .270. Very flat shooting. My kids ages 11 and 13 shoot this caliber with no problem.

270 would be a good choice. You can get bullets from 100-150 gr so it gives you a pretty wide range. I have taken whitetails with 110 gr bullets and I know guy that hunts Elk with a 270. I think it's a little small but it can be done if you're a good shot.
