I went to the range today, and when i got back my guns had condensation on them, I simply wiped them off very good and cleaned the bores as usual and then put them away, is this ok?

I also applied gun oil after wiping them down.

Should be fine. There is a company called Sentry who makes a wonderfull cloth impregnated with a silicon film that is good at inhibiting rust. There are also gun storage "socks" or soft cases that inhibit rust. Look at www.midwayusa.com

The silicone stuff is great.I like to put a VERY thin layer of CLP on my firearms if the conditions are damp. I don't, however, put it on in the summer time. Here in Utah, it is too dry and dusty in the summers and the CLP attracts dust, and this in turn can corrode metal. I like to keep all of mine in a 'free breathing' area. The typical 'cool, dry place' Sometimes in the summers, I will use the 'tuf-cloth'. It has a dry graphite based lubricant/preservitive that is great! We love to use it on our M-16/4's in the desert. Keeps them well lubricated without collecting too much dust.

I recommend you get a can of Birchwood-Casey SHEATH (BARRIER??), and wipe your guns down with a patch saturated with that - also use it to swab the bore.

I use this stuff, and even in the salty dampness oif coastal Alaska, it absolutely PREVENTS rust!

Thank all of you who responded, I woke up this morning and checked on the guns and they were fine.

Usually when it's cooler outside and you've had the guns out for some time, they aclimate to the temperature outside. You bring them inside in the warmer environment and they will sweat until the metal aclimates to the inside temperature and the condensation evaporates. NEVER bring the guns in from the cold and put them in a gun case.They WILL begin to rust if you don't let it dry and then oil/silicone treatbefore putting them up.
