Try any of the 165 grain premium bullets. they seem to group really well in a 30-06 and do a good job on deer.

Bullet placement is going to be more important than picking bullets...you're pretty much w/o limit in 30cal. I would suggest, from hear-say, that you find a load that uses Nosler Ballistic Tips or Seirra's GameKings. Nosler Accubonds are not what you want, as well as Nosler Partitions or Swift A-frames. The Accubonds, NP, and A-Frames are top notch bullets of excellant quality and reputation...but they are designed for "controlled expansion" for greater penetration on bigger game. Penetration isn't a worry on deer with a 30-06.

the accubonds and partitions perform great on deer, im shooting 180 acubonds havnt lost a deer yet. the expand enough to form a good wound channeland drive deep. plus the shoot great.

Gopher, I'm sorry you are correct. My post may make it sound like those bullets are a poor choice for deer. Which is not the case. I meant to let .44 know that there are other bullets that will, generally, expand more. Dead is dead though, its kinda silly how we spend so much time looking for "a better" or "a best" bullet when we've seen animal after animal check-in to our freezer

Right On!1000's of deer and Elk have been taken with Fed 150-180gr SP and Remington Core-Lokt 150-180gr SP, before all the new Bullet's showed up?
