Tough one let's see 35 cal 200 grain vs. 45 cal 400 grain . Recoil wise the 45/70 will be heavier but not that you would notice it in a hunting situation. It is slow recoil as opposed to the jackhammer affect of a HV magnum. Especially for hogs I don't know how you could go wrong with the 45/70.

Thank you all for you input. It has been extremely helpful as expected. After reading all the post and looking over some other info I discovered I have definately decided against the .35 Rem. I have shot some of the .45-70 singleshots and they are S-W-E-E-T! I still haven't made up my mind but the .45-70 is at the top of the list at the moment. Thanks again.
