Yes, that is the only kind you should use in a smoothbore.
For a rifled BARREL however, you use what are called "Sabot" slugs.
Sabots are smooth. Rifled are, well, obviously, rifled.

Again, Rifled Slugs in smooth barrels, and Sabot Slugs for rifled barrels.

You might try to find some Federal Tru-ball slugs. They're kinda new and heard about them when I was doing research on sabot slugs. It's still designed for smoothbores but brings a new design to the table.

One of my friend shoots a gun like yours but have a 26" barrel and shoots Brenneke slug great with it. He get descent groups out to 75 yards.

Those type of smoothbores can shoot/group kinda well. The limiting thing is the bb front sight - it covers alot of the target.

definetly agree with this, I read an article last year on them, and the shooters were really impressed with the groups they got. Mount a scope on your 12 guage, & with these slugs, and you got a real leathal combo!

The Tru balls are awesome. That’s all I shoot through my smooth bore and I get excellent groups. I will say this; they seem to have a little more kick than others I’ve tried. I shoot the 2 ¾ and that’s plenty.

I would have to tell you to shoot sabot slugs and rifled slugs both and see how they react to your gun. When it comes to slugs every gun "picks it's own." Buy several brands and sizes try them all.

No! Sabots are made for rifled barrels, and rifled slugs are made for smoothbores.

He would destroy his barrel if he did what you suggested!
