300 WSM AMMO
I would like to hear any opinions on ammo for 300 WSM. I shot
winchester ballistic tips last year but they went up $12 per box.
I would like to hear any experiences with federal fusion, or accubond.
Any advice would be well taken. By the way, i hunt mostly whitetail
and i know many people are going to tell me ive got way to much
gun. so, save you time typing, i already know it.

I tried the fusion 150grin my 300wsm. It didn't shoot well at all...sprayed them.Wish itdid though. I'veread some great stuff on itsknocked down ability.Win 150gr ballistic tips shot real good though I'm not a fan of ballistic tips for hunting. Fed Prem nosler solid base 165gr and nosler partition 165 both have shot well from my gun. I am going to used the solid base for hunting this year. I had a win mod70 and it shot them good but I never could get it to tune in with any of the loads. I traded it in and got a Tikka t3 yesterday and I'm hoping the Fed Prems shoot good from it. I got rained out at the range today or I would show you some pics of the target practice. Maybe one day Hornady will get some loads out.

i bought the 165gr fusions yesterday but havent got to the range yet.
i may have to stick with the winchesters if these dont group well. i would
still like to here any experiences with the accubonds. thanks for the
info. as for hornady, i heard they said they would not make the wsm cart.
i wish they would though.

It's the luck of the draw in whether your particular rifle is going to shoot any load well regardless if it's a handload or factory loaded. It depends on your budget but if I was going to use strictly factory ammo in the 300 WSM I would opt to get 3 different premium 180 grain loads such a partition, accubond or barnes Xand use the one that shoots best in YOUR rifle. The 180 gr willnot destroy as much meat asthe lighter 150 and 165 grain bullets in 300wsm. Just my $.02

I got the 165Gr Fusions for my Win Model 70 .300WSM last year. Shot beeter than both the Winchester Supreme 150BT's and Wnchester 180 Power Points. Shot an average sized adult Pa doe with them. Broadside at about 80 yards. Hit in lungs, clipped one rib. No "blow up", nothing major on exit hole. Deer went about 20 yards. I would have stuck with them, but got a bug to start loading for the 300. Working up loads for 165 Gr Sierra Spire Point BT's

I love the Fusions in everything that I have tried them in. With any of the 30 caliber Magnum rifles, I would stay with 180 grain bullets as they will usually do lesss meat damage by staying together. I found this true with both the 300 WM and the 300 Weatherby Mag.
