Default Shooting on Public Land?

Is it legal to fire your weapon at a paper target out in the woods on public land during non-hunting season?

In Fl you cannot have fire arms on WMA's off season and during season only if they have a range to sight in, if they don't, you can't!

Not sure about Il. very good idea though. it would be nice to be able to drive 2 min. from my work to sight in my turkey gun and my slug gun instead of driving an hour to where I hunt.

In MD, its illegal in all public places in nonhunting situation. Your supposed to have a legal backstop, be so far from houses, yada, yada.

In New Jersey you have to be on a range if you want to shoot targets on a WMA.

In KS it is legal in "Designated areas", which is basically to say that it's illegal except for on state owned shooting ranges.

In Ontario, you're good as long as you can prove that you're target praticing and not huntng. IE in a gravel pit with a box with a target on it or whatever.
