I have a Win. .30-30 "Ranger" which I bought NIB from the 50's era from an old lady that my wife knew.
This Winchester "Ranger"is from the 50's era and the materials arebetter quality than todays, but agreed, the Marlin is Hard to beat!

I was referring to post-Eisenhower/post-cold war/the wall coming down time frame for best.

I was at the range over this past weekend sighting the scope on my Marlin 336a. Well, there is something to be said about not using a bore sight. You go through a lot more ammo :D

Anyhow, I did have a lot of fun. I must have run over 70+ rounds through that puppy and enjoyed every minute of my it. I was using the standard winchesters and remingtons, but would really like to try Hornandy's lever evolution.

i hunted with one for a few years but what i did was put a 4x scope on it, it was perfect for that little gun, its a very efficient gun
