Mega Magnums

Ladies and gentleman step right up and see the newest innovation in firearms today, with the new line ofMega Magnums, you no longer need to worry about adjusting your scope when shooting long range, "just aim and shoot from 100-1000 yards, the 'ole girl will put them right in the X ring", said a Company Spokesman for Extreme Arms, the company behind the Mega Magnums, all of the Mega Magnums are based on the .50 BMG, the largest being the .375 Mega Magnum which will push a 270 grain bullet at close to 3700 FPS, and a 300 grainer at a little under 3600, for laser trajectory go with the .300 Mega Mag. which will push a 180 gr bullet.(Nosler Ballistic Tips for the test) at close to 4500 FPS. "With our Mega Magnums we take the guess work out of long range hunting and shooting", said Extreme Arms Chairman and CEO Michael Magnus. And with the results we got in our tests he is absolutely right.

Heh. In World War II the Germans experimented with a small squeeze bore gun (28mm at breech, 20mm at muzzle) for paratroopers to use as an anti-tank weapon. Squeezed a tungsten-cored round down to 20mm which exited the barrel at... 4700 FPS if I recall right. Why not try that?

Marketing hype aside, IMHO it is difficult to consider a 40 pound rifle a hunting rifle except with tongue in cheek.

RE: Mega Magnums

Our rifles come with a uniquedolly system to which they are to be carried on, which makes the rifle virtually unnoticeable to drag around, tests have shown that the dolly,(which looks a lot like one of those packpacks with wheels) has a harness to which the rifle is strapped into, and all you have to do is drag the dolly to where you want to hunt and get the rifle out. Even as we speak prototype models are being designed for an adapter that can be fitted to ATV's that will allow the rifle to be carried on the vehicle.

RE: Mega Magnums

Also we have made some major design modifications, lowering the weight and price of the rifles, while still maintaining the same quality.

Non,

I see you editted the weight down from 40 to 15.
Engineering department has to love you.
Good luck with the spoof.

You see ELK, we are just trying to provide all the power a hunter will ever need, in a lighweight affordable package. And to bring up whatI have said previously, this is the new innovation in hunting and shooting.

I'm interested in the material of construction for these rifles, as the amount of overbore for a 30cal bullet to be fired from a .50BMG case would likely put your bbl life at about 15rounds...and some say the .220swift is overbore!!

RE: Mega Magnums

We use nothing but the best and toughest titanium alloys, very similar to the material that jets and other various aircraft are made of.

Only problem is that if other 35-50 year olds are like myself, they have the greatest buying power but are turned off by products with "Extreme" or "tactical" in their names.;)

Magnum_Man_338 10-19-2006 07:32 PM

RE: Mega Magnums

Briman I can assure you that our products are top quality and are not "tactical", our products are for the hunter, not the military buff.

Sounds like an awesome toy for the range! But even 15lbs is ridiculous for hunting! Save it for the range, and plainly having fun. I don't know of a hunting bullet out there that wouldn't have problems at such insane velocities on game, but like I said it sounds like a heckuva fun paper puncher or pdog mister :D

Sure beats the old 30-06.:D

So when you magically editted your weight down from 40 to 15 pounds where specifically did you take the 65% reduction in weight from?
Spoof IMO.

Wow,
I can picture everyone giving their .300 rummies to the grand kids to plink cans with. Do you think I can get one of those Mega Magnums in a 7 pound mountain gun?

I am immuneto flinching.

We simply to the action out of the heavier stock and placed it into a more lightweight stock.

The deer will be REALLY dead now.

According to our statistics, the deer are 45% more dead when shot with a Mega Mag, then when shot by a 30-06.

RE: Mega Magnums

Sounds pretty awesome to me, the only question i have is how do you put a percentage on how dead something is, if its dead its dead(at least thats what i thought), whether you get shot by a .22 or a .50 cal, your dead either way, but very interesting to say the least,

ELKampMaster 10-20-2006 08:04 PM

RE: Mega Magnums

A "simply" 25 pounds lighter stock?

What was the other stock made out of? Steel?
Spoof, IMO.

Magnum_Man 10-20-2006 08:22 PM

RE: Mega Magnums

No we changed the design of the stock, making a less massive design, less beef you might say.

Magnum_Man 10-20-2006 08:23 PM

RE: Mega Magnums

And for anyone who hasn't figured it out yet, this is a spoof of the Ultra and short mags. And my quill regarding the 30-06 making game 45% less dead was a way to poke fun at them as well.

Do you have any formal information proofing this? [8D]Again I'll say it; that sounds like a fun piece to show off at the range or pdog field with, but still ridiculous for big game. What kind of bullet would take that velocity without falling apart, and making meat damageextreme?[&:]

Pickerel 10-22-2006 11:39 AM

RE: Mega Magnums

I think they changed from the old stock to the lighter one because the old one, for camoflage purposes, was actually a small deer! They had some problems with the mega magnum running away when fired, it seems!

Hey, why are all the guys that are advertising this have their name have something to do with Magnum_Man? This is kind of fishy to me.
