First rifle was a Winchester M 69A .22 Rimfire...My folks got it for me for Christmas the year I was 12 ( 1962)...I still have it and have even managed to avoid losing the 5 shot clip all these years...

My first centerfire rifle was a Rem M722 in .222...Bought it secondhand for $65 in 1964...I still have it and it is in excellent condition, albeit refinished and reblued...

My first deer/big game rifle was a M1895 Chilean Mauser in 7X57...I bubba-ized it, had the barrel bobbed to 21 inches, the bolt altered and installed a new safety, aTimney trigger, and a Weaver K2.5 on an S&K Instamount.....Killed a few whitetails with it and then peddled it when I bought a Ruger M77 in 7 x 57 to replace it...

my very first gun to hunt with was a 22lr for rabbits and also a 410 shotgun for grouse (both were my dads). The when I was able to hunt deer he let me use is win model 94 30-30. Used that for 2 years and then my grandfather gave me a Sav Mod99 .300 savage that I used for a few years. I loved that 300sav. I plan on using both that and the 30-30 for when my kids get older if they want to hunt.
the first gun I ever bought was a savage heavy barrel 22-250 and 2 years ago i bought a savage Model 111 in 30-06

My Grandpa gave me his old Winchester Pump with the exposed hammer. Can't recall the model number but Taurus makes them now. It shot 22 Short, Long or Long rifle. I think I was 11 at the time. He also gave each Grandson a Daisy BB gun for Xmas when we were six.

My first deer rifle was the Old Eddiestone 30-06. A Army Surplus store was selling them for 20.00 each.

Savage M24 .22lr/410 O/U at age 12. Win. Model 94 30-30 a year later. Wish I still had them, but back then (late 50's) I used them for trades to move on and up. I've since bought replacements for them, but they are not the originals. Oh, well.....live and learn.......

I started with a 30/30 and have tried many calibers to come full circle back to it. There is nothing in east Texas or northwest Oklahoma where I hunt that a well place shot from a 30/30 won't take down.
