cz prestige in 30/06
i wandered into a local firearms store this morning and found a CZ 550 "prestige" on the rack in 30/06. now, i didn't know that such a beast existed, but it sure did have a lovely piece of walnut on board - especially compared to the standard 550 next to it. apparently Cz sales have been slow, and it's been on the rack for many months, so they are trying to offload theprestige for just $750 Aus ( approx US$520). it's agreat looking rig - and i want it!! just one problem - i really have no legitimate use for an '06. most of my shooting is at varmints, or benchrest target shooting.
so i guess i'm after some info, and advice. can you load the 30/06 down to relatively pleasant recoil levels for a day at the bench, and still get decent accuracy? the Cz will probably finish around the 8 1/2 pound mark with a scope. i've shot a 7 pound BLR in .270 off the bench, and found cumulative recoil eventually became a pain in the neck ( or shoulder!!) after 40 to 50 rounds. i'm assuming the '06 will be worse again?
