I was set on getting Leupold base and rings for the new scope I'm getting, but then I read some good things about Burris rings and bases. Any thoughts on Burris or Leupold rings and bases? I'm also gonna be mounting them on a 3x9x40, so should I get the medium high rings? Thanks for your time!

I would call Leupold (ph# 503-646-9171) and ask them what height of rings to use. I would use Leupold dual dovetail mounts and rings they have never let me down. Good luck.

look at the leupold ring/mounts brochure. it shows what gun and what should be used. i know i have a low mounts and 2 piece base on my browning medalion. with a 3-9X40mm leupold scope. it just fits. if you go to the store ask the guy behind the register to try them out to see what fits.

fisher_hunt,
Leupold and Burris both make good rings and bases. I did have to send a set of Burris rings back, the front dovetail didn't fit tight in the base. Other than that no problems. Check out the Burris Signature rings (IMHO) they are worth the extra money.

I mount around 75 to 100 scopes a year for a local gun shop and the best seller are Leupolds! Medium rings should fit for a 40mm tube. Thats what I use on most of my guns...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
