RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
Great round, too close to 308 for me. 308 is cheaper, recoil increase is slight, 308 is much cheaper, can't see 1 thing the 7-08 can do the 308 can't.

RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
My favorite thing about the 7mm08 is the light recoil. The recoil is noticeably lighter than my .270. Flat shooting and good performance on deer.

RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
After hunting with and killing deer with other calibers, including most of the other 7mm family cartridges, I, too, have settled on the 7-08. Mild recoil, loads up nicely, great accuracy, easy to carry, etc., etc. Just can't say enough about it. Fine round for deer.

RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
The sad thing IMHO, is that this cartridge has been around for 120 years....yes, the 7mm Mauser is the ballistic twin albiet a bit faster than this fine cartridge....granted, you have to move the bolt another 1/4 inch or so. To me it's kind of sad to see how the gun manufactures and so called experts keep hyping the "new stuff" when in fact many fine calibershave been around for many years. I just built a 7mm-08 on a Mauser action....stay tuned! Regards, Rick.

RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
I started out with the 30.06 and then bought the 7mm-08. the 30.06 rarely see's the woods anymore when i deer hunt. It's a fantastic round. you won't be disappointed.

RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
Good Choice!
Edit:Should have mentioned, good deer cartridge. |
RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
you want a negative comment? Well I absolutely hate this cartridge for brown bear hunting. It sucks for dangerous game. [8D];)

RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
I'm one of those that bought one for the wife first. The 2 deer she shot with it dropped in their tracks with lung hits - looked like someone dropped a safe on them! Hers was a 700 Mtn Rifle and those 140 grain Nosler BTs work perfectly at 7-08 velocity on deer. I just bought a Kimber 84M Select Grade in 7-08 and it's one of the finest rifles I have ever owned - guess I learned my lesson!

RE: 7mm-08 Remington??
G-Beard,
You are absolutely right about the 7-08 and the Kimber 84M. My 7-08 is a browning, but I have a 84M in 308, and it is absolutely the finest rifle I have ever (and probably will ever) owned. Mine is a classic, not select grade. Good choice in caliber andrifle! |
