Yeah, my thought exactly! Why drill a rifle that's already drilled and tapped for scope mounts?

As far as scopes go, Nikon makes a nice model, the Pro-Staff, that you can get in 2x-7x-32mm or 3x-9x-40mm for about$129 from Cabela's plus shipping.The Pro-Staff has good glass and is very clear across all manifications.

If it turns out the your scope is bad and you need to replace it, you won't go wrong with the moderately priced Nikon Pro-Staff model.
