RE: New Deer Rifle

My A-Bolt Stalker has hunted in cold nasty weather with ice and snow. It has a synthetic stock but its not stainless. I have not had any problems with the trigger at all. I do not ever put any oil on or even near the trigger
I don't find snow and ice nearly as bad as rain as far as rust on rifles is concerned. Most snow and ice stays on the surface and can be wiped off, whereas rain gets into the internals and you can't dry them out without disassembling the rifle.I agree 100% on never putting oil on a trigger assembly.

Anthony-I don't live in Alaska but I have hunted on the coast at the Alasks B.C. border.I live in Alberta andI often hunt in the mountains of Alberta and B.C.The farmland of Alberta and Saskatchewan is tame by comparison as far as being hard on gear.

Another big plus would be the BOSS system that Browning has.
As the former owner of a BOSS equipped rifle,I could not disagree more.My own BOSS came loose regularly which changed the point of impact. The BOSS equipped rifles also come with shorter barrels to compensate for the length of the BOSS,the result being that they produce less velocity than a non-BOSS equipped rifle.Lastly, the BOSS equipped rifle was not my most accurate rifle despite much time and ammunition spent tuning it.I will never own another BOSS equipped rifle.
If accuracy is important, the only rifle mentioned that comes with an accuracy guarantee is the tikka. And as another posterstated previously,a synthetic stock will produce a more consistant point of impact.
I have had a rough time with my stainless stalker w/ BOSS as well. Mine couldn't group no matter what I put in it. I shot side by side with a Ruger77 MK II and he shot lights out. He couldn't group on my rifle either, so I know it wasn't just me. Browning has had very good fortune with the BOSS, but there are a few lemons out there as with everything. I'll not say that I'll never own another BOSS equiped Browning, but my first one was not what it should have been. The guy I sold it to is satisfied with 2-3 inch groups because his shots are not long range. I'm looking at the Ruger Ultra Light, and the Remington CDL. Don't know which one yet, but it's likely to be one of those two.

My own boss equipped rifle would shoot 3/4" groups with it's favorite load, but several of my factory rifles shot as good or better with no boss.

I did'nt get the BOSS on mine. It shoots fine without that. I don't think I'll get it on any browning. I think they could help, but they might be able to hurt you under certain circumstances.
