www.riflescopes.com is usually the cheapest, except when other places have sales like the spotting scope thing.
I don't know what prices you are looking at, but below are some examples.

Bushnell
Elite 4200 6-24x40, Mil Dot, Side focus SWFA: $489 TOZ: $465
Elite 4200 4-16x40SWFA: $359 TOZ: $339

Nikon
Monarch 3-9x40 SWFA: $320 TOZ: $265
Monarch 6.5-20x44 SWFA: $470TOZ: $415

I purchased a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 from the optic zone and they had the cheapest price any where. It is worth looking them up. They are great to deal with and the prices are great, plus they offer free shipping on orders over $300.
