Just moved and found a great gun shop nearby. They have a used Sig 202 in 270 cal that I fell in love with. Always used shotguns for hunting so far. What is the 270 cal a good gun to hunt for?
Just trying to justify picking it up.
Thanks.

The 270win works well for deer, sheep, caribou and pronghorn, and other game of similar size.It can be used for elk and moose, but it is certainly not an ideal cartridge for those animals.

If you "fell in love" with the rifle, you had better buy it. I can think of no better reason to buy a rifle. Where are you and what type of hunting for what type of game will you use the rifle for? These things (and bullet selection)will determine if a rifle and cartridge are suited to your needs.

A better question is what CAN'T you shoot. I believe that list would be shorter.LOL! 270 is a great caliber and very versatile. If you like the gun, there is no way you can go wrong with the caliber.
