Hardcore ..thanks for the pictures ...I am leaning towards the savage
James he is a right handed
I think the 17 would be pretty good myself and will limit him to head shots which is what I have been preaching all along for this type of hunt
He is not a lefty is he?

OK. I was just wondering. I have an older Remington LH bolt 22 rifle. I used to shoot LH bolts but that shoulder is so bad now that I can't work LH bolts anymore.

I have two Remington 513 matchmasters one that is scoped and one that has Redfield target peep sight. 27 inch barrels and the most accurate I've shot to this date. Winchester 52 is also a nice rifle. Bear in mind these are target rifle's. The new savage 17hmr's are really nice to shoot and the wind actually effects it less then the 22lr at 100yds. Time in flight vs. mass. This I field tested at about 20mph winds.

I have had a CZ 452 which I liked but it wasn't blue/walnut which is a negative in a 22, I just don't like the look

I recently picked up one of the new CZ 453's with single set trigger. It's an ablsolutely beautiful rifle and is every bit as accurate as the Anschutz 1416D I used to have which cost a whole lot more.

Thesse are all 5 shot groups and this target was shot with my first trip to the range with the gun, so the barrel wasn't even broken in and the flyers are definitely me and not the rifle.

The Savage won't be anywhere near as accurate as the CZ.
YOur wrong on that count..shot a savage at the range and it shot circles around my CZ..every gun is different

I have a Marlin bolt action that I put an adjustable trigger on and my buddy always grabs it instead of his 10/22 when he goes out to shoot. We have it sighted in at 80 yards where we can sit on the backporch and thin the turtles down in the pond. It shoots excellent and I have never had any problems with it.

If I had one that shot that well and looked that good ..I would have kept it.

I've still got the CZ....wouldn't get rid of it for the world! It's the Anschutz that I no longer have.
