which gun to take first deer with?

next time i see him, i'm going to ask my grandpa if i can borrow one of his deer rifles. he has a Savage 99 in a .243 winchester and a savage 110 in a 30-06. which one should i choose to take my first deer with? i realize a 30-06 is more of a deer carteridge but a Savage 99 is a "classic" rifle. I'm kinda leaning towards the 30-06 but i may never get the opportunity to ever shoot a Savage 99 again.

It all comes down to one simple question since both are adequate cartridges, which rifle can you shoot better with? Answer that and you will have your rifle.

I agree with the others. If it was me it would be the 06. I think I would let the range dictate which weapon.

i haven't shot either one of them. and will probably only get a choice of shooting one. it doesn't really matter but i probably will bid of the '06 although that savage 99 is a SWEET gun!
