.17hmr vs. 10/22
Looking to buy a new "plinking" rifle and I'm split on these two calibers. I currently have a .22 but its older than me. Heard good things about the HMR but havent shot one. I can get the .17 w/accutrigger for $220 or the 10/22 for $240 (stainless). So for you guys that have them what do you like or dislike about both ? I have a .222 that I use for actual varmit hunting so this would mainly be for the range and maybe some hunting.

Haven't shot the 17, but I love my 10/22!
Good accuracy, but change the springs to get the trigger better so you can shoot as good as the gun can.
Lots of after market parts if you want to customize later.

I have a 17 HMR and really enjoy it. I have a Savage Stainless BVSS and I'm using to teach my kids how to shoot, plus use it for prarie dog hunting. They are tack drivers and fun to shoot. A bunch of buddies from work have them and every 17th of the month, we have "17 Day". Fun to have some little competitions with buddies with targets @ 200/250 yards!
I own a couple of 22's as well, but think the 17 is a funner plinking gun.
Downside is bullets. $9 for 50 is horrible!
