.500 S&W question

Good luck finding a Handi in 500 S&W. I am tired of the little stuff, I am waiting for the Ruger Alaskan with the 2 inch barrer in 460 Weatherby. Shoot your game and cook it in one easy step.
The deer better be scared of my 25-06 too.
While we are waiting for the Marlin in 500 S&W, We already have the 45-70 in that rifle. It will do the same chores, no problem.

I love my S&W 500. Mine is the full-sized 8 3/4” barrel. I thought it would kick more, but there is still a great little punch to it when I fire it. I haven’t used the gun for anything but target practice, and the only reason I got it was for that purpose. It’s great to take that thing out to the range and fire it and smell the gunpowder, see the flash at the end of the barrel, and here the big BOOM[/b] it makes. It’s comical just to see the other guys shooting around you look at you with their mouths dropped open. It’s truly a “better then sex” feeling.

500 MAG is a neat gun - I have shot one with the 8.375" barrel and is was smooth and not much different in recoil than my 41 MAG. The gun is heavy and the rounds are $$ and reloading would be a must if I bought one since a day shooting could ring up some bucks.
I would stick with asmaller more effiicient gun like the 41 or 44 to start and then migrate up for fun. Idid see a guy that had one setup witha scope and was shooting tightgroups at 50 and 100 yards - longerbarrel thanthe one I was shooting though - not sure what lenght maybe 10ish.

I have one with the 8 3/8'' barrel and not all that bad. I have mine scoped and it weighs almost 5 lbs. I have shot 50 rounds through it in one setting and no problem. Grip the gun high in the grip with the web of your hand. Loud!!! Earplugs plus earmuffs with that muzzlebrake on it.
The .500 S&W on the left has WAY less recoil then my Ruger Alaskan .480. That .480 is lightweight and a heavy recoiler
