Looking to purchase a new scope for my 243 win. Considering something in the range of 4-14 or 4-16 power. My question is, are the side focus scopes better than the ajustable objective, or the other way around. I have read in the past that the side focus is not as effective. Any feedback would be great. Also, what brand would you consider.....

I have2 buckmasters 4.5x14x40 onewith the side focus and one older onewith the normal AO and see no difference. They are great scopes for the money. You never said a price range so I just figured these were the best value in my mind. I would also suggest nightforce but dont know if you want to spend that much but they are awsome

The side focus adjustments are prefered by varmint hunters that may shoot repeatedly at targetsat widely varying ranges. For them it is simply a more effecient location for the adjustment dial, allowing faster adjustment and subsequentshooting. As varmint hunters are a large and growing segment of the high magnification scopemarket place, more and more manufacturers are offering side adjustment scopes to fill their needs.
