Springfeild M1A/M14

I was reading in Janes booko n guns and i saw that the M1A is listed as a 7.62x33mm (.30 Carbine) and the M14 is in 7.62x53 (.308 Win) but on the springfeild website the M1A is listed in 308 Win, whats up with this?!

Absolutely the book is wrong. M1A & M14 are the same basic gun, except that the M1A doesn't have the ability to auto-fire.

i dont think that the book is wrong, unless it is refers specifially to the photo or diagram of the m14.
the the m1a carbine is chambered for the .30carbine round. and this is what i believe your book is referring to
springfield manufacturer refers to its own reconnigtion of its rifle, it doesnt call them semi-auto m14 it call them something else (ie the m1A).
