OK, I'm getting ready to break-in my new 270wsm, I want to find some real light and inexpensivefactory loads, for two reasons, first, I want to run a bunch of rounds thru it, andnot blow myshoulder off with the recoil. Second, I dont want to spend alot of money on expensive shells just to break it in, ( accuracy isnt all that important at this time, ) after breaking it in I think I will use the winchester accubond 140gr for hunting. I would really like to use a 130gr bullet, but all I have heard, is bad reports on the win ballistic tips. Another question. Who makes a good 130gr premium boattail factory load, I could tryfor hunting. Thanks

I wouldn't worry about the recoil of the 270 WSM. I just broke my new XCR last week. The recoil really is tolerable.
I would stick with the 130gr. Federal makes a 130 grain with a Nosler Partition as well as Barnes TSX, both will work well.
As far as the ballistic tip, I think they work fine. My father took a buck last year with his 270WSM at about 50 yards with a ballistic tip and the bullet performed very well.

Probably the cheapest lighter recoiling ammo for the .270WSM is the Remington Express 130 gr core-lokt loads. If you can find them. It is getting tough to find any inexpensive ammo for the .270WSM. Most shops only stock the premium bullet stuff with the premium prices. Handloading is the best option, since I can load up some nice Nosler 130 gr Ballistic Tips at about 3000 fps for about $5 for a box of 20. Using factory seconds (that shoot as good as factory firsts), Accurate Data 86 Powder (less than $10 per lb delivered) and fired cases. If I have to buy new brass, it would up the price to about $8 for a box of 20.
